Back with another guide to liking your life in specific, accessible ways!

As we begin the month of luck, I’m asking, “What are all the ways I have gotten lucky lately? What makes me feel lucky?”

Little things and big things — they all add up.

The heart of these guides stems from a realization that changed how I see my days — for a long time, I thought happiness would come when I finally loved everything about my life. I kept chasing this future version where everything would be perfect and settled.

But along the way, I realized that moment might never come. Life is naturally difficult! To love everything about life is impossible! We are human. Nothing will be perfect until heaven.

So I started asking a different question: If life is too hard to love all the time, what can I like?

This simple practice unlocked an unexpected kind of abundance in my everyday life. Lately, I’ve noticed something else: the more things I like, the luckier I feel. Luck is related and also often looks like small moments you notice or capture.

Think of these monthly guides as a syllabus for simple joys. We will never get these months again! We might as well try to like them. Thank you for joining me here!

Happy March! If you missed the past month’s guides, you can read them here.

Before we move on, a few things I liked in February:

I hosted a very fun Galentine’s Day party. A highlight was my dining room filled with red balloons. At one point, we all went around and introduced ourselves. It’s really fun to gather a bunch of new people in one room.

I’ve been going on quick 1-mile runs to get my mind and body in the right place. It only takes a few minutes. A frequent humbling realization — the things we put off usually only take a few minutes.

I’ve also been trying to wake up early, and now I can’t imagine my days without these morning moments. I love this poem from Mary Oliver —

I went to a Bunny Williams lecture and have been deep diving into her interiors. Inspiring!

I have absolutely loved our bi-weekly book club chats on The Artist’s Way. So many kindred spirits, and one of the reasons I’m feeling so lucky this year. Inspired by the book, I’ve been working really hard to prioritize my own creativity.

I went a bit more blonde. I love it. These K18 hair products are really helping my hair health. Also, this face tanning stuff — curing the winter uglies. And baths with this stuff.

Oh, and an amazing stay at Post House! Dreamy Wednesday reset.

What a quick and full month it was. Between the good stuff, I was buried in work and struggling to keep going at times. But as always, there is so much to like when you look! What did you like?

Seven ideas for living a likeable March:

1. Collect Signs of Spring

One of my favorite memories from growing up was how, every spring, my mom would encourage us to look for signs of new life. Winters were very long in Ohio, and seeing the first daffodils sprout, buds on the trees bloom, or birds chirp was very encouraging. What signs of spring are you seeing? Capture them. So much hope in this season!

2. Leave A Note

Our normal routines can feel endless — but a simple way to break up the mundane is doing something for someone right in front of you. Leave a note, grab a coffee, or send something in the mail. Sometimes, I overlook the people I see regularly because they are just always there. It takes a few seconds to leave a Post-it on their desk or pop something in the mailbox to encourage them. An easy and thoughtful way to add delight to normalcy. In giving, we always receive!
