Noticing | Volume 26
On this week's bulletin board: hiring a team, summer energy, Walmart finds, tennis lessons, rules to live by and more.
On Wednesdays, I share a list of things I’m seeing, liking, thinking about, etc. This is my weekly bulletin board!
+ This month, Migrate welcomed our second full-time employee. Martha! In light of our growth, I’ve been reflecting on the various pieces of advice and myths often offered to growing businesses. While growing Migrate, I always wondered, “When do you hire someone? How do you know?”And I continually felt met with “just leap!” or “learn to delegate.” This was confusing to me, and it fell flat when I attempted to operationalize the next steps. This type of advice can leave me feeling like I’m missing out on some secret. So if you’re growing a team or working on anything, I would like to say: Hiring is a math problem. You will know when your numbers suggest you need help. I always used to ask, “What comes first, the chicken or the egg? The hiring or the cash flow?” I have found there is a sweet spot where you are still taking a risk, but feel confident about the numbers. You will know when you are there. However, I didn’t hire two full-time roles overnight — this involved years of experimentation with internships and part-time roles. Little by little is always the answer. The best things grow gradually. Keep working.
+ I got this necklace in from KMs Gems this week. I couldn’t love it more!
+ Jen recently shared, “You can have anything you work for!” on Instagram. This has stuck with me through every task. I couldn’t agree more. We spend a great deal of time thinking about what we are going to do. Just working on it moves the needle further than you can imagine.
+ Who are these people? Why do I keep wanting to rewatch? The chic young summer energy!! I’m laughing out loud at the comment, “What in the capital gains tax is going on here?”
+ I noticed a woman at the post office looking very chic in straight-leg jeans and boat shoes this week. I’m wanting to revisit my high school closet in search of my archived Sperrys. This pair is so beautiful. These are $22 from Target.
+ I’m starting tennis lessons this week! I am so excited. I played tennis through high school but haven’t touched a racket in a while. Let’s be honest — one of my favorite things is the outfits. Old Navy’s activewear is my favorite, and everything is currently on sale. This skirt is under $20. I also browsed the Tory Burch Sport sale (extra 25% off). This skirt!!! This belt bag omg. Or a fleece for next fall. This sweater is perfect for when I make tennis my entire personality.
+ Like I mentioned last week, I’ve been wearing my Bala Bangles every morning on walks. I recently found these 7-minute simple arm workouts and love them. Can be done anywhere!
+ I got an order in from Walmart last night, and I’m shocked at the quality of these pieces!!!! While trying them on, I kept repeating “Are you kidding me? This is so good!” out loud in my bedroom. I am most excited about this navy dress and this blue striped tie-front dress. I ordered both in a small! This tank is very cute (and flattering), and I love this navy eyelet top for work. I love this green linen dress, as well as the shorter version of the blue and white dress here.
+ I am so struck by these rules my friend shared with me this week. Perfectly articulated:
+ Were you a kid who saved her stickers or craft supplies for the perfect moment that never came? I’ve found this to be a common and funny habit among high-performing women. Do not wait to create! The special occasion is today. Here’s some encouragement.
Have a great week!
Sending love!

I was always the little girl saving the stickers, it makes me sad to remember how much I loved them and how I never used them! I've actively been trying to live in freedom with this over the last few years! Thanks for the encouragement, always!
I clicked on “those people” and got sucked in too! I’m also reminded how thankful I am TikTok didn’t exist in my early 20s.
